In class we are working on creating a Vision Statement to have a safe and happy classroom in Prep Green for 2017.
We started by reading the story, Have You Filled A Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. We all carry an invisible bucket that contains our feelings. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When our bucket is empty, we feel sad. A Bucket Filler is someone who says or does nice things for other people. By doing this they are filling other people’s buckets and filling their own bucket at the same time. On the other hand, a bucket dipper says or does things to cause other people to feel bad.
As our school has a goal this year of connecting with our Franciscan Charism, we are exploring the Franciscan Values of Humility, Service, Peacemaking, Contemplation and Collegiality (working together) and how we can be Bucket Fillers by following these values.
So far we have learnt about Service and Humility. I have outlined below some of the things we decided we could do to follow these values and be Bucket Fillers.
Service
Clean up the undercover area for Year 1, 2 and 3
Help keep our classroom clean and tidy
Let someone else go first
Take care of an animal
Recycle our rubbish
Help mum and dad by cleaning our bedroom
Humility
Say sorry when we are wrong
Use respectful speech (please, thank you, your welcome)
We congratulated our friends when they got a goal in PE
Say good game instead of being showing off
Give thanks to God and people who help us
